Director, Human Resources – Americas

The Role

We’re looking for a sharp, pragmatic HR leader to own the people side of the business across the Americas. This is the senior HR seat for the region — part strategic partner, part operator, part culture-shaper. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with leaders to build the systems, talent, and culture that let the business move fast without breaking (or getting sued).

You’ll own employee relations, performance, org design, talent acquisition, compensation philosophy, compliance, and the day-to-day HR ops that keep everything running. Recruiting, payroll, facilities, and office admin all report into this role. Ideal for someone who can zoom out on strategy one minute and roll up their sleeves on a messy ER issue the next.

What You’ll Own

Employee Relations & Performance

  • Be the go-to advisor for managers and execs on complex people issues
  • Lead investigations (harassment, discrimination, misconduct, policy violations)
  • Coach leaders through performance management, PIPs, discipline, and exits
  • Balance legal risk with business reality — and know when to bring in counsel
  • Help build a culture that is high-accountability and high-trust

Employment Law & Compliance

  • Keep the company clean across multiple U.S. states (strong California expertise is non-negotiable)
  • Own policies, handbook, wage & hour, leave, accommodations, classification
  • Handle audits, reporting, and risk mitigation with legal and benefits partners

Org Development & Talent Strategy

  • Partner on workforce planning, restructuring, and change initiatives
  • Translate business goals into practical people strategies
  • Drive performance cycles, leadership development, and engagement efforts
  • Support M&A / integration work when it hits

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Own the recruiting function for professional, technical, and leadership roles
  • Strengthen employer brand and candidate experience
  • Own onboarding so new hires actually ramp

Comp, Benefits & Ops

  • Support compensation design, benchmarking, and salary decisions
  • Partner on benefits and HRIS
  • Bring data — turnover, retention, hiring velocity, org health — to the leadership table

Leadership Partnership

  • Serve as trusted HRBP to the Americas leadership team
  • Influence without formal authority
  • Collaborate with global HR while protecting what works locally

Who You Are

  • 8+ years progressive HR experience with real ownership of employee relations and multi-state compliance
  • Direct people management experience preferred
  • Deep knowledge of federal and California employment law
  • Track record running investigations and advising senior leaders through messy situations
  • Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on in a lean environment
  • Strong judgment, clear communication, and the ability to earn credibility fast with both executives and frontline managers
  • Experience with HRIS and basic people analytics

Nice to have: SHRM-SCP / SPHR, background in tech, manufacturing, aerospace/defense, or other regulated environments, experience supporting distributed teams or matrixed global orgs.

Location: Concord, CA onsite

Why This Role

You’ll have real ownership. No giant corporate HR bureaucracy — just the chance to shape how a growth-oriented organization hires, develops, manages, and retains talent across the Americas. High visibility, high impact, and the kind of complexity that keeps the work interesting.
